René Magritte
| “the son of man” |
René Magritte was a Surrealism artist born in 1898, with his work being started at around the start of the 20th century. The art he created represents the idea of everyday objects being presented in different contexts, aiming to think about what we take for granted.
Magritte fed into the surrealist movement highly, providing works such as ‘The Son Of Man’ and ‘Lovers’ both these pieces are faceless, they have no facial features in them making it not realistic and making the consumer intrigued and interested. this was a key part and effect of his work and made him such a influential and famous surrealist artist.
My Interpretation
I chose to somehow recreate the apple photo that Magritte did, but instead of using an apple I used a dinosaur cookie from Cooplands, edited out the background and layered it on top of a photo of my face in order to get a similar effect of how Magritte did with the apple.
